We enjoyed exploring Zakynthos town. The walk along the sea front (Strata Marina) was refreshing on a hot day: ferries and cruise ships from the other Greek islands visited the port and fishing boats moored while their owners cleaned out their nets.
Every now and then, a horse and cart trotted up and down, or the tourist train trundled along the road. It felt very much like a real Greek town, with pleasingly few concessions to the tourists.
